He cursed me for being so slow and I told him that I had fallen into the river . We took five fish off the lines and then went back to the hut for breakfast.
　　After breakfast , we lay down to sleep as we both felt worn out after the events of the night. I didn't sleep but went on making plans for my escape.
　　Soon father got up to drink another barrel of water.
　　"That man wasn't here for any good ," he said . "I'd have shot him . Another time, wake me up , do you hear ?"
　　His words gave me an idea."Now,"I said to myself , "I can arrange things so that no one will ever think of following me ."
　　Towards midday we walked along the river bank to watch what the current was bringing down. Part of a raft came floating by -nine logs tied together. We pulled it to the bank . Nine logs means more whisky for father and he felt that he must hurry to town to sell them . He locked me in the hut and started off in the boat , with the raft. No sooner had he gone than I set to work with my saw.
