When I woke up , the sun was high in the sky . I was just dropping off to sleep again when I heard a deep boom coming from the river. I peered through the bushes in order to see what was the matter. Boom went a gun again and I saw white smoke shooting out of the side of a ferry boat . They were firing a gun over the water to make my dead body come up .
　　The ferry boat passed very close to my hiding-place and I could clearly see some of the people on board. There was my father, Judge Thatcher with his daughter Bessie, Joe Harper,and Tom Sawyer with his old Aunt Polly, his brother Sid and his sister Mary.
