    Does No Degree Mean No Job?

    沒(méi)學(xué)位就沒(méi)工作?

    Often, while perusing the job postings, you'll see listed under the requirements section wording suchas "Bachelor's degree or equivalent."

    經(jīng)常在應(yīng)聘一個(gè)職位的時(shí)候,你會(huì)看到在職位要求的部分寫(xiě)著“學(xué)士學(xué)位或同等學(xué)歷。”

    Does this mean that those without a degree need not apply? Not necessarily.

    這是否就意味著沒(méi)有學(xué)位就不能申請(qǐng)那個(gè)職位呢?不盡然。

    Although many corporate cultures require that their employees be degreed regardless of their position orlength of experience, others will allow the degree to be trumped byindustry experience. This is especially true for those job postings that have a degree or equivalent tagged to them. As such, you may havea chance when you lack the degree. Generally speaking, a degree willusually be mandatory for those younger candidates lacking solid,relevant job experience. The operative word here is "equivalent" andhow that is defined.

    雖然很多企業(yè)文化要求招聘員工只看學(xué)歷不論職位和資歷。但是也有的公司允許員工用工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)來(lái)彌補(bǔ)學(xué)歷的不足。這種情況尤其會(huì)發(fā)生在那種表明“要求學(xué)位或同等學(xué)歷”的工作職位上。也就是說(shuō),雖然你沒(méi)有學(xué)位證書(shū)也可以得到機(jī)會(huì)。一般來(lái)說(shuō),學(xué)位證書(shū)對(duì)那些缺乏扎實(shí)的技能,相關(guān)工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)的候選年輕人才是強(qiáng)制要求的。我們要說(shuō)的關(guān)鍵詞是“同等的”,以及該怎樣去理解這個(gè)詞。

    While these employers may have different requirements for equivalent experience, a good rule of thumbis to demonstrate past performance and proven results in your previouswork. To accomplish this, your goal is to show how you either make money or save money for your employer.

    From your past work experience,develop as many specific instances when you actually have done so. If you can attach a dollar-value to several of those, so much the better.Put these in your resume.

    Here are some actual examples:

    1."Increased revenue by 38% from new social market bookings."

    2."Improved cash collection and debtaging from average 100 days to a more manageable 30 days and realized savings of about $276,000."

    3."Reduced turnover by 45% over previous management within 15 months through my training program and development plans."

    Showcase Your Main Strength

    You should also have a USP (UniqueSelling Proposition) near the top of your resume. Also called a"Personal Branding Statement," this is a short, one-sentence "pitch"that describes who you are in about 15 seconds. Your USP should statethe single greatest strength you offer and the biggest benefit that you bring to an employer.

    在你簡(jiǎn)歷的最上面應(yīng)該有一個(gè)獨(dú)特的推銷主題也稱之為“個(gè)人品牌陳述”,也就是用一句話在15秒內(nèi)對(duì)你自己做出定位。你的USP也應(yīng)該寫(xiě)上你的最大優(yōu)勢(shì),以及你能夠給雇主帶來(lái)的最大利益。

    Example: "Hospitality business development professional with a strength in creative sales and marketing techniques that generated $500,000 in new revenue for my employer in 12 months."

    例如:“酒店發(fā)展專業(yè),擅長(zhǎng)市場(chǎng)營(yíng)銷和銷售技巧的創(chuàng)新,曾在過(guò)去的12個(gè)月中為我的老板贏得了50萬(wàn)美元的利潤(rùn)。”

    You can outweigh the formal educationby showing exactly how your specific work has benefited your previousemployer. The bottom line is that employers today, more than ever, wantto have problem-solvers on board. Though you may have no degree, youcan prove yourself a resource that fits into their larger profit and loss picture. If you can demonstrate that, you can get hired.

    你可以用曾為前任上司帶來(lái)收益的具體業(yè)績(jī)來(lái)彌補(bǔ)你學(xué)歷上的不足。重要的是和過(guò)去相比,現(xiàn)在的雇主想招進(jìn)公司的都是能夠解決問(wèn)題的員工。雖然你可能沒(méi)有什么學(xué)歷,但是你可以證明如果他們聘請(qǐng)你的話,將會(huì)以最少的損耗帶來(lái)最大的利益。如果你可以證明這一點(diǎn)的話,你就能夠得到該職位了。
