李華終于把明天要交的一份報(bào)告寫完了。她松了一口氣，想出去輕松一下。她決定先去看看Michael在干什么。今天，李華會學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語：dumb blonde和bimbo.

    M： Hey， Li Hua. What brings you here？

    L： 沒事。剛寫完明天要交的報(bào)告，想休息一下。哎，你在看電視劇Friends呀？我看過，我很喜歡Pheobe. 就是那個(gè)金發(fā)女孩，她真滑稽。

    M： Yeah， she's a real dumb blonde.

    L： 你叫她dumb blonde？ 什么意思呀？ Dumb不是指一個(gè)人很笨嗎？blonde是金發(fā)。很笨的金發(fā)女郎啊？

    M： You're right. Dumb blonde. We often joke that blonde women are usually pretty but not very intelligent.

    L： 噢，原來你們老把金發(fā)女郎說成是很漂亮，可是卻很笨。 象Pheobe也一樣，很漂亮，但是老說傻話，也是個(gè)dumb blonde.可是，說人家笨不是很不禮貌嗎？

    M： Yes， that's why we would never say this to someone's face. It's usually only used as a joke behind people's backs.

    L： 原來這是作為笑話來講的，絕對不能當(dāng)著一個(gè)金發(fā)女郎的面說dumb blonde. Michael，你真認(rèn)為金發(fā)的女人真的都很笨嗎？

    M： No， we often used the term as a joke. Most of the jokes about dumb blondes are not true.

    L： 我想也是，有金發(fā)的人不見得就是比別人笨。Michael， 你給我講一個(gè)關(guān)于dumb blonde的笑話吧！

    M： OK. A crying blonde asked a policeman for help to find her lost dog. The policeman suggested that she put an ad in the paper. The blonde responds： "I can't， because my dog can't read." Li Hua， do you understand the joke？

    L： 聽懂了。一個(gè)金發(fā)女郎的狗丟了。她一面哭一面要一個(gè)警察幫她把狗找回來。警察建議她在報(bào)上登個(gè)廣告。可是，這個(gè)金發(fā)女郎說：“不行，我的狗不識字。” Michael， 我才不信有這么笨的人。

    L： Michael， 那天我們上歷史課的時(shí)候，那個(gè)女學(xué)生問教授誰是美國的第一任總統(tǒng)。這可真傻，不過她不是金發(fā)女郎。那我該怎么說她呢？

    M： Well， you can call her a bimbo. Bimbo is a very dumb woman， not necessarily a blonde.

    L： 你的意思是，bimbo可以指笨的女人，不管她是不是金發(fā)女郎。

    M： That's right. Remember last week in class， a girl asked who won World War II， the Germans or the Japanese？ What a silly question， she's a real bimbo.

    L： 對，我記得！她問第二次大戰(zhàn)是德國人勝還是日本人勝，提得出這樣問題的人才真是個(gè)bimbo.

    M： Yeah， it's scary that an American did not even know who our first president was or who won World War II. But it's still not nice to call her bimbo， though.

    L： 我知道，雖然提這樣的問題很傻， 不過也不能當(dāng)她們的面叫她們bimbo. 這樣會傷害她們自尊的。

    M： I know you wouldn't. Just want to warn you.

    L： 喲，Michael， 我和一個(gè)朋友約好在中國城見面的，我得去搭地鐵了。我要來不及了！

    M： To Chinatown？ Two blocks away！You can walk there in 5 minutes， why do you want to take subway？ You're such a bimbo！

    L： 噢，再過兩條街就是中國城？我還以為要坐地鐵呢！嗨， Michael， 我路不熟這也算bimbo呀！你真沒禮貌！我走了！

    M： Sorry， bye！

    今天李華學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語，一個(gè)是：dumb blonde， 這是用來笑話那些金發(fā)女郎，看起來很漂亮，但是腦子很笨。另一個(gè)是：bimbo.Bimbo是指笨的女人，不管是不是金發(fā)。
