Larry 和李華剛剛看完Robin Williams主演的一部新的喜劇片。兩人正準(zhǔn)備
離開戲院。今天李華會(huì)學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語：to crack somebody up和fess up.

    LL： That was great ！ Robin Williams really cracks me up ！

    LH：這部電影真的很有意思。我都笑得快流出眼淚了。對(duì)了，你剛才說crack
me up ，crack 不是破裂，裂開的意思嗎？這和好不好笑有什么關(guān)系？

    LL： If something or someone cracks you up， it means that it makes
you laugh. LH ：噢，crack you up就是讓你發(fā)笑�。磕闶钦fRobin Williams很
好笑，我完全同意。我特別喜歡看他演的電影。特別是演喜劇片，每次都會(huì)讓我
笑得肚子疼！

    LL： You know what else cracks me up？

    LH：還有什么事情讓你覺得好笑��？我猜不出來耶！

    LL： That joke that you told me yesterday. LH ：我昨天告訴你的笑話？
對(duì)，那個(gè)笑話誰聽了都笑個(gè)沒完。

    LL： After you told me the joke ， I shared it with my friend ， John.
It really cracked him up， too. He was laughing so hard that I thought
he was going to have a heart attack. LH ：你的朋友John笑得那么厲害，你
還以為他要發(fā)心臟�。∧撬�肯定是個(gè)愛笑的人。說到愛笑，我就是一個(gè)。我鄰居
那只貓經(jīng)常讓我笑。

    LL： Why？ What does it do？ Tell you jokes ？

    LH：哎喲，貓哪會(huì)講笑話吶！那只貓經(jīng)常愛玩自己的尾巴。那天它在沙發(fā)上
為了玩自己的尾巴，不小心從沙發(fā)上摔下來，那個(gè)模樣真是逗！ That really cracks
me up ！

    LL： That is cute. Animals crack me up， too. They do all kinds of
silly things. LH：沒錯(cuò)，很多小動(dòng)物都好可愛，常常有一些特別好笑的舉動(dòng)。
我就準(zhǔn)備養(yǎng)一只寵物。

    LL： Now， that idea cracks me up. You don't know how to take care
of a pet！

    LH：哼！我想養(yǎng)小動(dòng)物，有什么好笑？很多東西我都可以學(xué)嘛！

    LL： Li Hua ， you look like there's something you want to tell me.
Come on ， fess up. LH：我是有事情想告訴你，不過你先解釋一下，什么是fess
up啊？

    LL： To fess up is to confess or admit something. LH：原來，fess up
就是承認(rèn)，坦白的意思。好吧！那我說了。你還記不記得我說過想養(yǎng)一只寵物？
我去了流浪動(dòng)物收容所，而且還領(lǐng)養(yǎng)了一只小貓咪！

    LL： That's great ！ But does your landlord know you have a pet now？

    LH：嗯，這就是我在擔(dān)心的地方，我還不敢告訴我的房東。我怕他知道我在
屋子里養(yǎng)貓，他會(huì)生氣。

    LL： Why？ Aren't you allowed to have pets in your apartment？

    LH：嗯，其實(shí)……

    LL： Come on， fess up. LH：我們是可以在公寓里養(yǎng)寵物，但是我們應(yīng)該
先征求房東的同意后才可以。

    LL： And you didn't ask the landlordfirst ， did you？

    LH：沒有耶，我沒有先征詢過他的意見，所以我現(xiàn)在才會(huì)擔(dān)心嘛！

    LL： Well ， you'd better fess up to him soon. It's better if he finds
out from you. Otherwise ， you seem dishonest. LH ：你說的沒錯(cuò)，要是被
他發(fā)現(xiàn)我先斬后奏，他說不定會(huì)把我踢出去呢！我想我今天下午就會(huì)告訴他，希
望他答應(yīng)讓我保留我的小貓咪！ I'll fess up to him today！
