    7 個人吃飯得買多少花椰菜？

    how much后面跟不可數(shù)名詞，如broccoli， lettuce.how many 后面則跟可
數(shù)名詞，如tomatoes， onions.

    2. Marilyn， I have to tell you something.瑪麗琳，有件事我得告訴你。

    在向人承認自己隱瞞的事時可以用這句話來開頭。談一件不幸或不愉快的事
時也可以用它來開頭。

    3. I knew it！

    我早料到了！

    Richard 終于說出實話，Marilyn 便埋怨丈夫一句。I knew it 之所以用過
去時，是因為意思是“我早知道”，“我本來（當時）就知道了”。

    4. Instead of exercising， I photographed the class.我沒參加鍛練，
而是給他們班拍照來著。

    instead of…表示“而不是……”，“沒有……，而是”。后面跟名詞、代
詞賓格或動名詞。of后面的是沒有做的事，主句里的動詞是做了的事。

    5. Oh ， the bet is still on. 嗨，這個賭還得接著打呀。此處on是副詞，
表示某件事或者某種狀況仍在延續(xù)。又如：Don't worry about grammar ， so
long as the communication is still on.（只要交際活動能夠有效進行，就不
必為語法傷腦筋。）

    The battle is still on. （戰(zhàn)斗還在進行。）
