With little ones safely strapped around their necks, these new mothers are helping their babies get a step ahead of the rest with special dance classes.
The group of young mothers are learning how to dance the samba, waltz and blues and helping their children to develop at the same time.
The baby dance classes are held at a studio in Yokohama city, in suburban Tokyo, and are designed to benefit both the baby and their mother
Dancing with your baby provides vital brain activity, stimulates growth and develops coordination and awareness of rhythm in babies.
It can also help younger babies develop the muscle strength they will need to crawl and walk.
And dancing is a great way for new mothers to lose their baby weight at the same time as developing a bond with their child.
The classes, which are aimed at babies aged three months to two years, are run by the Japan baby-dance association.
Youngsters are held in baby slings as their mothers are taken through a series of stretches and dances along to music. |
