李華和Michael這個(gè)周末什么功課都沒(méi)有，原來(lái)準(zhǔn)備好好玩一玩，可是后來(lái)計(jì)劃落空。李華會(huì)學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)：zip和drama queen.

    L： 嗨，Michael， 你這個(gè)周末有功課要做嗎？

    M： Nope. I don't have to do zip. I'm free the whole weekend.

    L： 你不用做zip？ 那是什么意思呀？Zip不是衣服上的拉鏈嗎？

    M： No， I mean zip as in zero or nothing. I don't have zip means I don't have anything to do.

    L： 噢，zip可以解釋為“零”，“什么也沒(méi)有”。那你的意思是你周末什么事也沒(méi)有，對(duì)不對(duì)？

    M： Yes. If you ask me for money and I don't have any， I could say I haven't got zip. Get it？

    L： 知道了，你沒(méi)有錢(qián)，我本來(lái)也沒(méi)有想問(wèn)你借錢(qián)啊。

    M： Good. Now， do you have any money I could borrow. I want to buy a coke.

    L： "No， I don't have zip." 我這么說(shuō)對(duì)不對(duì)？

    M： Yes， you used it right， but I really want to buy a coke.

    L： 你真的要問(wèn)我借錢(qián)哪？Michael， 我可真是沒(méi)有錢(qián)，我不騙你。

    M： Oh well， I guess I'll have to go to the bank before we can do anything interesting this weekend. If I don't have any cash， then we won't be able to do zip.

    L： 沒(méi)錯(cuò)，你要不到銀行去取錢(qián)，那周末我們哪兒也去不了。We won't be able to do zip.

    M： Now you've learned the word zip. The bank is over there. I'll get some cash and I'll come right back.

    L： 快點(diǎn)，我餓了，要去吃晚飯了。嗨，Michael， 你多取點(diǎn)錢(qián)，I don't have zip in my pockets.

    M： Alright.

    L： Michael， 我們周末出去玩的計(jì)劃全被打亂了。我們的歷史教授從電腦上發(fā)給我們一個(gè)新作業(yè)，星期一就要交了。啊呀，我真氣死了。

    M： Oh， don't be such a drama queen. The assignment can't be that bad， and I know for a fact that you do have free time.

    L： 你叫我什么？ Drama queen？ Drama是戲劇，queen是女王。這兩個(gè)詞合在一起，嘿，我雖然不知道drama queen的具體意思，但是我肯定你是在諷刺我，對(duì)不對(duì)？

    M： Not really. A drama queen is a girl who exaggerates her problems， usually to get attention. Your problem really isn't that bad， but you make it sound like the end of the world.

    L： 噢，drama queen原來(lái)是說(shuō)一個(gè)女孩，為了引起別人的注意，夸張了她面臨的問(wèn)題。 哎喲，就是小題大作。嗨，我可不是小題大作。我是因?yàn)闆](méi)有時(shí)間完成作業(yè)，所以我才心煩意亂。

    M： Oh， please. You are being a little too dramatic about this homework assignment.

    L： 只是一個(gè)作業(yè)，你說(shuō)得倒簡(jiǎn)單！算了，算了，不跟你爭(zhēng)了。可能是我還不清楚drama queen的含意，Michael， 你再給我舉個(gè)例子，好不好？

    M： Do you remember my friend， Angela， who called me crying because she couldn't find her math book？

    L： 當(dāng)然記得。她呀，為了找不到她的數(shù)學(xué)書(shū)給你打電話的時(shí)候還哭了，我真是難以相信。她好像老是有什么事感到不高興似的。

    M： She is such a drama queen. She makes a huge deal out of losing a book or a bad haircut. Once， she wouldn't talk to me for a week because I forgot to call her back.

    L： 對(duì)，她總是大驚小怪，小題大作的，丟了一本書(shū)也不高興，剪頭發(fā)剪得不好也不高興。你忘了給她打回電，她當(dāng)然要生氣，一個(gè)星期不跟你講話就算客氣的了。我可沒(méi)有象她那樣，所以別叫我drama queen.

    M： Yeah， you're not quite as bad.

    今天李華學(xué)到了zip和drama queen兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)，zip就是零，什么也沒(méi)有的意思；drama queen是指那種喜歡小題大作，大驚小怪的女孩子。
