    Marilyn ： I think it looks terrific on you.

    「語言點精講」

    1. Let me try it on. Let me ……讓我……，允許我……。注意在說這兩
個字時，這位顧客使用的是口語音：Lemme ……這里let 的t 因為連讀而失去了
爆破。

    try （it） on 試穿。

    2. I was expecting him here at five forty-five. 我本來指望他可以5
點45分到這里的。Expect是“期望，盼望某事發(fā)生”的意思。當我們盼望一個朋
友來，等一個電話，等一封信時都可以使用expect.

    3. The traffic is very heavy at this hour.這個時間交通很擁擠。heavy
在這里形容交通繁忙，擁堵。

    4. I think it looks terrific on you.我覺得你穿上它好極了。美國人在
贊美別人的時候，喜歡用一些比較夸張的形容詞。像在本情境中，女性顧客試穿
了一件綠色的毛衣，她對Marilyn 說"I like the color on me ， don't you？

    " （我覺得我穿這顏色不錯，你說呢？）Myrilyn 用了這個"terrific"，來
贊美她穿這件衣服看起來“好極了，棒極了，簡直沒治了”。
