Dear parents and families,

　　親愛(ài)的家長(zhǎng)們：

　　Welcome back everybody from your week-long May holiday. I know everybody had a great time! Some students travelled, others enjoyed spending time with their families and friends, whilst many of our students enjoyed some downtime at home. Our teachers continually work, but they also managed to find time to relax and enjoy doing those things not possible during the school semester. It was a refreshing time for all. Everybody has returned excited, eager and enthused to complete the remainder of the school year. It will be a busy one, which includes many exciting planned whole school events. Stay tuned for more information about these.

　　五一長(zhǎng)假結(jié)束，歡迎大家返校開(kāi)啟新的學(xué)習(xí)之旅。在七天小長(zhǎng)假里，有的同學(xué)外出旅游，有的選擇和家人朋友共度美好時(shí)光，還有很多“宅”在家中養(yǎng)精蓄銳，大家的假期充實(shí)而快樂(lè)。老師們?cè)诩倨谌悦τ诠ぷ�，但他們也能忙里偷閑，享受下這難得的休閑時(shí)光。五一長(zhǎng)假恰是養(yǎng)精蓄銳之時(shí)。而今返校，心潮澎湃，整裝待發(fā)，共度本學(xué)年剩余光陰。后期將陸續(xù)著手規(guī)劃全校活動(dòng)相關(guān)事宜，亦是異常忙碌。有關(guān)詳情敬請(qǐng)期待。

　　At the end of our last term we celebrated the ‘Reading Bug’ theme. During this theme, teachers encouraged and shared with their students their love for reading. Our students enjoyed learning more about English and Chinese literature. Reading is a very important skill to master in all cultures. Through reading, students learn more about their worlds: people, customs and histories. We learn in many ways, but reading and engaging within good literature is very important. During our last assembly we celebrated the ‘Reading Bug.’ Every student performed using English. Some of our most avid readers were rewarded with special awards. We also viewed a special video, which showed some of our parents reading with their children. Let’s continue to enjoy and share a love for reading.

　　上學(xué)期末，我校開(kāi)展了“書(shū)蟲(chóng)”主題活動(dòng)，通過(guò)老師鼓勵(lì)指導(dǎo)，分享閱讀心得，鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生廣泛閱讀，激發(fā)閱讀興趣——學(xué)生們熱衷于學(xué)習(xí)更多的英漢文學(xué)作品。閱讀是得以精通各種文化的寶匙，通過(guò)閱讀，學(xué)生們能夠?qū)�這個(gè)世界產(chǎn)生更多的了解：人文、風(fēng)俗、亦或歷史。學(xué)習(xí)的方式多種多樣，而閱讀鉆研優(yōu)秀文學(xué)作品，是其中非常重要的一種。我校在上次集會(huì)中開(kāi)展了“書(shū)蟲(chóng)”主題活動(dòng)。每位學(xué)生都用英語(yǔ)進(jìn)行了表演，其中最熱衷閱讀的小書(shū)迷還獲得了特別獎(jiǎng)。此外，我們也觀看了一段特殊錄像，其展現(xiàn)了我校家長(zhǎng)和孩子共同閱讀的情景。希冀我校保持良好閱讀環(huán)境，營(yíng)造熱愛(ài)閱讀氛圍。

　　This week twenty-five of our students began their first round of the CCTV Star of Outlook English Competition. At the time of writing this bulletin I have no news on our students’ success. However, during the holidays and this week our competition entrants worked hard on perfecting their introductory speeches. The international teachers and Academic Support Specialists worked hard with individual students to critique and provide positive feedback on the students’ work. The students’ homeroom teachers also provided the students with time to practise and tinker with their speeches before the first round. We wish all our entrants the best of luck.

　　在本周，我校25名學(xué)生已開(kāi)始了他們首輪中央電視臺(tái)希望之星英語(yǔ)風(fēng)采大賽。截止目前，我校還未獲得相關(guān)學(xué)生晉級(jí)的消息。不過(guò)無(wú)論是在假期還是本周，小選手們都在努力完善其首輪演講稿。國(guó)際教師以及相關(guān)老師也攜手合作，給予學(xué)生指導(dǎo)，并積極提供相關(guān)反饋。首輪賽前，班主任們亦為參賽學(xué)生提供時(shí)間空間，助其演講更臻完善。希望我校所有的參賽選手都能取得好成績(jī)。

　　Preparations are now underway for our Children’s Day Carnival. Prior to the week-long May holiday, Primary Principal Zhang began discussions with parents about their needs and wants for these exciting carnivals during a Parent Teacher Advisory committee meeting. The Children’s Day Carnival will be celebrated on the 27th May. The exact details of these events are still being negotiated between Primary Leadership, staff and parents. As parents, if you would like to contribute your ideas to our discussions, please work through our Parent Teacher Advisory Committee. If you are not sure who to contact, please ask your child’s homeroom teacher.

　　兒童節(jié)嘉年華相關(guān)事宜正在緊鑼密鼓籌備之中。五一長(zhǎng)假之前，張校長(zhǎng)已在家長(zhǎng)教師咨詢會(huì)上，與家長(zhǎng)們就此激動(dòng)人心的嘉年華的注意事項(xiàng)和需要事宜進(jìn)行了商討。兒童節(jié)嘉年華將在5月27日舉行。小學(xué)部領(lǐng)導(dǎo)層、教職工和家長(zhǎng)們尚在商討活動(dòng)具體細(xì)節(jié)。如果您也想為嘉年華活動(dòng)提供意見(jiàn)建議，請(qǐng)聯(lián)系我們的家長(zhǎng)教師咨詢委員會(huì)(可通過(guò)班主任獲得具體聯(lián)系人信息)。

　　Again, thank you for the wonderful contributions you make to our growing primary school. We received some positive feedback from you through our parent teacher meetings, which made us feel very proud and happy about the work we are doing with your children. We always have a lot of work to do, but with your help and support, we can continue to create and build a highly supportive and engaging learning community for your children.
