今天Larry到Li Hua的宿舍里面去串門，Li Hua會學到兩個常用語：neat freak和crash.

    Larry： Hey， Li Hua. What are you doing？

    Li Hua： 我剛收拾完房間，現(xiàn)在我要把所有文件分類，然后放在這些不同顏色的文件夾里。

    Larry： Wow， you really are a neat freak. Li Hua： 你說我是什么？Neat freak？聽上去就不是什么好意思。哎，你別叫那些我聽不懂的名字，好不好？

    Larry： Calm down. Li Hua. To be neat is to be very clean and orderly. A freak is a person that is really weird or unusual. Together， a "neat freak" refers to someone who likes to keep things extremely clean and organized. Li Hua： 嗯，neat這個詞我知道，就是“干凈、有條理”的意思， freak就是說一個人和一般人不一樣，很古怪。所以，a neat freak就是一個特別愛干凈、特別有條理的人。哎，Larry， 你真覺得我是個neat freak嗎？

    Larry： Yes， see， your room always looks perfect， you always make your bed. You never throw your clothes on the floor. And you have all your papers well organized. Li Hua： 那你和neat freak剛好相反。你的房間總是亂糟糟的，床也不鋪，衣服滿地亂扔，還有，你的各種學習資料也是到處亂放。

    Larry： Well， I'm not a neat freak， so I don't care if everything is neat and perfect. Li Hua： 我看哪，Larry， 你就是太懶了——I think you are just too lazy.

    Larry： Well， maybe I am a little lazy， but look at your room， books， sweaters and even newspapers are stacked in order， and you're a real neat freak. Li Hua： 怎么啦，書呀、毛衣和報紙當然應該放整齊嘛。這有什么奇怪的？ 對你來說這可能是過份“有條理”，可能是有點怪。Well， I guess I am a neat freak.

    Larry： Alright. Now that you've finished cleaning， why don't we go to a movie. Li Hua： Sure， let's go！

    Larry： That movie was so long. It's almost midnight！ I'm so tired that I think I'm going to go home and crash. Li Hua： 什么？你是說你太累了，如果開車回家會出交通事故��？

    Larry： No， I don't mean crash as in "car-crash". I mean crash as in "go to sleep". Li Hua： 我還是不懂。你是說crash，這個詞，除了可以用作car-crash， 表示“撞車”，還可以用來表示“睡覺”啊？

    Larry： Yes， "I really want to go home and crash" means that I really want to go home and sleep. Li Hua： 噢，我懂了。想想看，crash這個詞用在這里還挺形象的，因為你太累了，所以一回家就“癱”在床上“睡著”了。So， Larry， can I say I was so tired that I crashed on the couch —— 我實在太累了，所以倒在沙發(fā)上就睡著了？

    Larry： Yes， you can say that. Another example is： I crashed at Jim's house the other night because it was too late to go home. Li Hua： 這個我懂，你是說，你那天晚上在Jim家玩得太晚了，所以干脆不回家，就在他家里過了一夜。 那要是我家里在粉刷墻壁，沒法住，我可不可以說，I'd like to crash at my friend's house？

    Larry： Of course you can， but right now Li Hua， what I really want is to crash in my own bed. I can't wait to get home. Li Hua： 有那么著急嗎？ 剛才看電影的時候我看你眼睛還張的大大的呢。不過，我也挺累的了。我想我一到家也會倒頭就睡著的——I will also crash when I get home.

    Larry： Let's go！

    今天李華學到了兩個常用語。一個是neat freak， 表示“特別愛干凈、有條理的人”。另一個是crash， 在口語里可以表示“睡覺”。
