    （Highway traffic ）

    LH：我希望你媽媽會(huì)喜歡和我一塊兒去逛街。

    LL： Oh ， I'm sure that the two of you will have a ball if you go
shopping together. You both love to shop.

    LH： Have a ball？哎，我是要和你媽逛街，不是和她去打球？

    LL： To have a ball means to have a lot of fun. I think you and my
mother would have a lot of fun shopping together.

    LH：噢，原來(lái)如此。To have a ball就是玩的非常開(kāi)心，所以，Larry 你的
意思是我和你媽會(huì)逛的很開(kāi)心。嗯，我也這么覺(jué)的。

    LL： I plan on watching some football with my dad and playing baseball
with my cousins. That's my idea of having a ball.

    LH：和你爸爸看球賽，又和你表弟打球，這些對(duì)你來(lái)說(shuō)就是玩得過(guò)癮啦！不
過(guò)啊，我是一點(diǎn)興趣也沒(méi)有。

    LL： While I'm doing that ， you and my mom can go and have a ball
shopping. It works out perfectly.

    LH：對(duì)了，Larry ，你家有游泳池，對(duì)吧？

    LL： Yep， they have a big pool in the backyard. My cousins have a
ball splashingaround in it.

    LH：嗯，我想我和你的表兄妹一樣，一定會(huì)在游泳池里玩的很開(kāi)心！我已經(jīng)
有好久好久都沒(méi)有游泳了！

    LL： Yeah ， I wouldn't mind going swimming either. This hot weather
is great for hanging out in the pool.

    LH：啊，我覺(jué)得這個(gè)周末一定會(huì)玩的很開(kāi)心！

    LL： Yep， everybody is going to have a ball.

    LH：我們還有多久才會(huì)到呢？

    LL： Another three or four hours.

    ******

    （Cell phone ringing）

    LH： Larry，你媽怎么一直打你的手機(jī)呢？她有什么急事嗎？

    LL： Oh ， she's in a tizzy because she's excited that we're coming
home for a visit. She misses me while I'm away.

    LH：我知道你媽盼望著你回家。我也知道她很想你，可是她怎么啦？She's
in a what ？ Tizzy？那是什么意思�。�

    LL： A tizzy is a state of nervous excitement. My mom is excited about
us coming home， but she's nervous because she wants to make sure everything
is ready for us.

    LH：所以tizzy 就是指很緊張，很興奮。你媽媽知道你要回家，所以她很興
奮，我媽也是這樣，每次我要回家，她都會(huì)把家里打掃的一塵不染，還買一大堆
我喜歡吃的東西。

    LL： My mom does the same thing. Be prepared to eat a lot this weekend.
My mom gets in such a tizzy that she cooks enough to feed an army.

    LH：哇，你媽媽一興奮就會(huì)作好多飯菜��？她做的菜好吃嗎？

    LL： My mom is a great cook ！ You're going to have some old-fashioned
American food.

    LH：嗯，聽(tīng)起來(lái)好誘惑人噢！我快等不及了。說(shuō)真的，我也有點(diǎn)tizzy ，興
奮又緊張了。

    LL： Why are you in a tizzy ？

    LH：我很興奮因?yàn)榭梢缘揭粋�(gè)美國(guó)人的家庭過(guò)周末，吃道地的美國(guó)菜�？墒�
我又很緊張，因?yàn)槲蚁胱屇慵胰藢?duì)我有好印象��！

    LL： Don't worry about that ！ You know my family thinks you're great！

    LH：你們家的人都對(duì)我很好。這我知道。

    今天李華學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)。一個(gè)是to have a ball，就是玩的很痛快，很開(kāi)
心。另一個(gè)常用語(yǔ)是tizzy ，這是形容一個(gè)人很緊張，很興奮。
