Ellen 和Philip在廚房里準(zhǔn)備感恩節(jié)的晚餐。Philip要做他拿手的甜點(diǎn)蘋(píng)果
派，他在準(zhǔn)備材料的時(shí)候，發(fā)現(xiàn)他沒(méi)有準(zhǔn)備一種很重要的原料。

Ellen ： OK ， Philip. This is your third cup of coffee. We should
get to work ， or we won't be finished by dinner time. Philip ： I guess
we must. Ellen： We must. Philip： OK. The beginning of my famous Thanksgiving
apple pie. One apple. Two apples. Three apples. Four apples. Ellen： Come
on， Philip ！ Get busy with your famous apple pie. There's much more
to be done. Philip： Now， the ingredients. Philip： What goes into my
apple pie besides apples？ Ah ， yes. Flour ， sugar， butter. Butter ，
nice and cold and hard. OK， here are the walnuts. Last but not least ，
the reason my apple pie is famous - cinnamon. Cinnamon… Ellen， where's
the cinnamon？

Ellen ： If there is any cinnamon ， it's in the cabinet with the
salt and pepper. Philip ： Salt ， pepper ， dill weed， garlic powder，
cinnamon. Ellen ？

Ellen ： Yes， Philip. Philip ： Is it possible that we forgot to
buy cinnamon？

Ellen ： Yes， it is possible that we forgot to buy cinnamon. Philip
： Well ， how can I make my famous apple pie without cinnamon？

「語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)精講」

1. We should get to work， or we won't be finished by dinner time.
咱們?cè)撝指苫盍�，不然到晚飯時(shí)候也干不完。

get to work ，開(kāi)始工作，著手干活。

2. The beginning of my famous Thanksgiving apple pie. 開(kāi)始制作我著
名的感恩節(jié)蘋(píng)果派。

感恩節(jié)（Thanksgiving Day）在每年11月的第4 個(gè)星期四。不同宗教信仰的
美國(guó)人都在這一天團(tuán)聚，通常有一頓豐盛的感恩宴。人們見(jiàn)面時(shí)互相問(wèn)候： Happy
Thanksgiving to you （to your family）。火雞是感恩節(jié)宴會(huì)上最具有傳統(tǒng)特
色的一道菜。感恩宴后，一家人一般圍坐下來(lái)看感恩節(jié)橄欖球賽。

3. Get busy with your famous apple pie.There's much more to be done.
快點(diǎn)做你那著名的蘋(píng)果派吧。要干的事還多著呢。

get busy with ……，快點(diǎn)做，忙于。

4. Ah ， yes. Flour ， sugar， butter.啊，對(duì)了。有面粉、白糖、黃油。

在依次列舉一系列事物時(shí)，每個(gè)詞都用升調(diào)，到最后的詞用降調(diào)。

5. Last but not least ， the reason my apple pie is famous - cinnamon.
最后，但也是很重要的一樣，使我的蘋(píng)果派著名的東西——桂皮粉。

last but not least，最后但也是很重要的。

cinnamon，桂皮粉。

6. Is it possible that we forgot to buy cinnamon？

有可能我們忘了買(mǎi)桂皮粉嗎？

It is possible that …，有可能，大概。
