　　稀有象龜辭世終年100歲

　　Lonesome George,believed to be the last of the Pinta giant tortoises, a sub-species of Galapagos tortoise, died in the Galapagos Islands, the DailyMail reported.

　　He was thought to be about 100 and had become an ambassador of sorts for the islands off the coast of Ecuador whose unique flora and fauna helped inspire Charles Darwin's theories on evolution.

　　With no offspring and no other known members of his sub-species, he became famous as the world's rarest creature.

　　據(jù)英國(guó)《每日郵報(bào)》報(bào)道，“孤獨(dú)的喬治”在加拉帕戈斯群島辭世。喬治是它所屬加拉帕戈斯象龜?shù)膩喎N——平塔巨龜?shù)淖詈笠恢弧?/p>

　　他大約100歲，是厄瓜多爾加拉帕戈斯群島的象征，該島稀有的動(dòng)植物對(duì)查爾斯·達(dá)爾文提出著名的進(jìn)化論有很好的啟發(fā)作用。

　　喬治沒(méi)有生下任何后代，所屬種群中也沒(méi)有任何同類(lèi)，它因如此稀有而世界聞名。
