introductions and greetings
1. Listening You are going to hear a number of people introducing themselves. Some of the introductions involve two people, some involve three. First look at the conversations in the pictures below. Then, as you listen, number these conversations in the order you hear them. The first one has been done for you.

2.Prisentation Introductions often include thes steps:

introducing yourself
introducing some one else
Notes:1. Some introductions are more formal than others. The use of first names indicates informality.
2. In English-speaking cultures, peolle usually shake hands on first meting.

課文注釋及詞匯講解
* We are going to be working together.
我們將在一起工作。
該句用的是將來進(jìn)行時,意義相當(dāng)于一般將來時,即該句也可以說成:We are going work together. 用將來進(jìn)行時目的是語言更加形象生動。中國學(xué)生往往不敢用將來進(jìn)行時。其實該時態(tài)用法與一般將來時基本一樣,而且能豐富我們的表達(dá)方式,也更符合口語習(xí)慣。
eg. I will beworking in New York next month.
我下個月將到紐約去工作。
* have to 不得不,必須
must的意思也是"必須"。
兩者的區(qū)別為:
have to 是一種客觀要求。
must 為主觀認(rèn)為。
eg. According to the contract[合同] wehave to pay by L/C[信用證]
根據(jù)合同規(guī)定,我們必須以信用證付款。[合同條款是客觀要求]
"You must pay us by L/C," said the exporter.
"你們必須以信用證付款,"出口商說。[某人的要求是主觀的]
* over (adv.)(跨過一定空間)到.............
eg. He's over from the States on a visit.
他從美國來訪。
* the States 指美國[注意:首字母要大寫并且要在詞尾加-s表復(fù)數(shù)]
* be on a visit 在訪問中
介詞on在這里指"在從事……中;處于……情況中"。
eg. I'm here on business. 我來這兒出差。
* host 主人
女主人為hostess
* Dr 為 doctor的縮寫,是博士或醫(yī)生的頭銜。可以單獨用來稱呼人,也可以加在姓的前面稱呼人。
eg. Dr Smith 史密斯博士/醫(yī)生[依上下文而定]
* move 搬家,移動
eg. The traders are going to move theiroffice to Wall Street.
這些貿(mào)易商打算把辦公室搬進(jìn)華爾街。
* join 加入,參加
eg. She's just joined the company.
她剛剛到這個公司工作。
He joined the marketing team last week.
他上周加入了營銷組。
* Purchasing Manager 采購經(jīng)理
* Export Sales Manager 出口銷售經(jīng)理
* cover (業(yè)務(wù))覆蓋
eg. What countries do you cover?你們在哪些國家有業(yè)務(wù)?
The tea company covers almost all of East Asia. 這家茶葉公司與東亞各國幾乎都有業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系。
