    The drawing portrays a tragic scene in which a rabbit is telling a story to her son， with numerous fresh tree stumps surrounding them. It seems that the tree stumps are lamenting the loss of their paradise as well.

    The picture aims at assailing a serious environmental problem—deforestation， for which several factors are responsible. In the first place， no one can ignore the fact that wood is an indispensable raw material for industrial production and daily life. In the second place， the expanding human population requires more living space， and forests are always the first choice humans decide to sacrifice. As a result， forests have experienced， and are experiencing fatal destruction worldwide.

    Currently， people in increasing numbers come to realize the forests‘ fundamental role in sustaining ecological balance， and their damage will result in irreversible harm to the world’s environment. Therefore， urgent and effective measures should be implemented so as to prevent deforestation. For instance， there are already some steps that have proved useful， say， the establishment of reserves of natural lands， the creation of substitutes of wooden products. The preservation and restoration of forests is a complex project that calls for more concern from the human society. （203 words）

    One glance at the cartoon can leave the viewer in awe of its beauty and splendor. One can only imagine the amount of patience that was required before any of this greatness was to be achieved. Here it is a symbol of strong man， whose character is revealed in crisis and adversity. It goes without saying that adversity is the touchstone of man—the harder the situation is， the more clearly a man‘s strength is seen.

    This picture reminds me of my father， a most determined and persistent man. He was born in a very poor family in the country， and both of my grandparents were farmers， but he was determined to change his own fate ever since he was a little boy. He studied extremely hard， graduated from high school with distinction and went to study computer sciences in the University. He later became a professor and art expert in computer programming—he could design large-scale programs for supermarkets， hotels， parks and bookstores all by himself.     It goes without saying that this message is very true. The 20th century has not only witnessed a huge hike in population， but also the emergence of crises resulting from fighting for restricted resources. Take crude oil for example， it is so immensely consumed in daily life and industrial production that its role is fundamental in today‘s global economic and political stage. People of different nations even initiate wars to obtain more oil fields， an activity which can be best exemplified by the complicated scenario in the Middle East. Other examples include more disputes over the sharing of water resources， as well as the lack of food and other necessities in most African countries.

    Indeed， a large population with limited resources casts a shadow on mankind‘s future existence in this planet.     What a vivid picture！ Just as the picture depicts， there are so many things or desires that the man has to bear or to seek. And it is like him that almost every one of us feels exhausted. Every day we jump out of bed with the earsplitting ring of the alarm�瞔lock， swallow a quick breakfast and then rush to catch the bus. When arriving at the workplace， we have to work every minute to its full value until we drag home and throw ourselves deep into the sofa. The fast pace of modem life do bring us great pressure.

    The first stress-maker is competition. Nowadays， many people， the strongly career�瞞inded ones in particular， are involved in a fierce competition for money， ranks， and fame. In the rat race， they try every means to stay on the top， and the fear to lose the game inevitably wrecks their peace of mind. The second， a reason closely related to the first one， is unhappy interpersonal relationships. Some people are so stupid at people skills that they always feel ill at ease when working with others.     What the drawing is trying to express is very conspicuous！ The eye�瞔atching scene depicted has become a common sight on college campuses in recent years.  Speculating about the stock market is no longer a new thing among college students and continues to become more popular. A kind of stock trading league has even been set up at several universities.

    However， should a university student invest in the stock market？ Just as every coin has two sides， there are also two sides to a student‘s decision to invest and trade in the stock market. On the negative side， following the stock market is very time-consuming， and， as a student’s main priority is to study， may undermine academic pursuits. Furthermore， students often do not have the financial means to take on large ventures in the stock market， and thus could hardly withstand potential losses. On the other hand， if stock market investment is economically feasible for the student， it is a different story. Assuming one can manage his or her time well enough to keep up with studies， investing  in  the  stock  market  can  be a great way to get first-hand financial experience， while at the same time preparing one for life after college.

    Based on the points discussed above， personally， I hold the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. After pondering the question on several occasion， I have finally arrived at conclusion that stock market investment should not be recommended to most college students. （239 words）
